The Sabine River Float on Memorial Day Weekend
Open to All Who Want to Participate.

Put in at 8 AM on Saturday, May 28, 2010 at Hwy 63 and the Sabine River. (Burke's Ferry)

Take Out on Monday, May 31, 2010 approximately 28 miles downstream just past Bayou Anacoca.

This is a Wilderness trip but very easy. Depending on the Flow of the river at the time one may need not paddle. (Hence the word "Float") However due to the past river levels and flows this year the put in may be a bit more of a portage but nothing we cannot handle.

The above photo was taken the week of April 25 - 30, 2010. Now things could change if the water level rises which it very possibly will do. So do not let this discourage you. This has always been a great trip.

SPRING FEST

Hi All,
Our Spring Fest at the South Toledo Bend State Park was a wonderful success. Seventeen people showed up and enjoyed a Champagne Breakfast Saturday morning. While some fished others hiked, and just relaxed around the cabins enjoying the company. A couple canoed the lake but most just hung out playing games and also played music with the instruments they brought. Guitars mostly with one drum. Saturday night's fest included BBQ meats with potluck side dishes and deserts.

The weather held out with slight spinkles early in the morning but by midday a bright and sunny day appeared. The temperatures were perfect.

A great time was had by all.

Our New Club

Welcome to our NEW BLOG. This will be taking the place of our Newsletter and our Website.

We have re-organized the club. To begin with we no longer accept dues as there is no need for income. There will no longer be a monthly meeting. Meetings of importance will be announced by email and on this Blog.

You can add your comments, announcements of trips being planned, trip reports and photos yourself as well as any article you would like to share.

We hope this works out better in attracting participation with the BTV.

See you on the River!
